History: Henry Morrison Flagler came to the area in 1893, where he decided to build a beautiful resort and a city. Flagler named the streets of the city after native plants in the area, such as Clematis, Banyan, Olive, and Rosemary. By 1894, the residents had decided to incorporate the city of West Palm Beach and they built several saloons and stores. By 1927, the city's population grew to four times its size, making West Palm the largest city in Palm Beach County.
